Martha’s Vineyard and Norwell high schools were facing off in a first-round playoff match. With less than 30 second left in regulation, and the score tied at zero, the head official called a hand ball inside the box, awarding Norwell a penalty kick. The kick was converted, and Norwell escaped with a 1-0 victory.

The organization informed them that league rules mandate a one-year suspension for anyone who assaults an official. According to the MIAA rulebook, the ban applies to participation in all sports.
